Being based in Berlin I could see Achtung Berlin develop from year to year. It's an extremely engaged festival. Not only in terms of showing the best from the Berlin region. They engage in the latest trends with lots of panels and side events around transmedia storytelling, crowdsourcing/funding, videoart, etc. The video karaoke has established into a fun tradition at achtung berlin parties. I attended the Reus session (for international shorts). It's a rather small festival. Nevertheless one of the best guest relations teams (actually one person: Cathrin) ever. They make you feel home right away. The festival takes over the accomodation costs and organizes interesting sightseeing tours of the town. The staff just absolutely needs to improve the quality of the screenings. Reus is the kind of festival you visit for chilling with a few talents from all over europe in a friendly environment more than an important industry heavy event. Lovely though. Luca Last Year
High profile Festival in a really cosy city. Just wonderful to hang out between the screenings. Incredibly friendly guest assistants. We arrived without having organized any accomodation and just 10 minutes after picking up the accreditation we were sitting in a limousine escorting us to a four star hotel. And we were "just" short filmmakers. Awesome. Good press attendance. Luca Last Year
A nice occasion to spend a few days in th City if you were not invited to one of the major NY festivals. The three organizers are really nice and dedicated people, The event is pretty intimate, so it's easy to make friends. All in all a minor event. But this was 6 years ago and the festival was in its second edition or so. It may have developed. Luca Last Year
I have to admit that even though we won a platin award here, I didn't attend WorldFest personally. I can't help having the feeling that this event is strange. There are litterally hundreds of categories to apply for. How to stand out? Anyone able to share experience about the event? The guest relations team is very friendly though and the statuette looks great. Luca Last Year
Circuito Off is my favorite. Not as popular as it should be. It is one of the best organized and committed short film festivals ever. It takes place during the Venice Film Festival. It's much more fun and effective for short films to attend Circuito Off than the "big" one. Amazing location, team, films, attending guests, events, parties. Just awesome. Luca Last Year
Hamburg is beautiful. The festival should be on the list of all shorts filmmakers. The festival is connected to the short film agency Hamburg, which is one of the major distributors for shorts. The quality of the screenings varies from theatre to theatre. Anyhow: also the theatres with crappy technics have a great athmosphere, as most of the venues are in old cinemas or alternative spaces. The range of events around the festival could be improved. Luca Last Year
