FFL's Festival Validation
FFL feels responsible for only allowing legitimate and relevant festivals to accept submissions through our platform. Thus we verify the festival's legitimacy and relevance before pushing the call for submissions live. Some festivals are not being allowed to accept submissions at all. For festivals allowed to accept submissions FFL separates among:
VALIDATED FESTIVALS
These festivals fully comply with FFL's festival validation policy. There is no doubt that they are established and/or legitimate events.
NOT VALIDATED FESTIVALS
These festivals don't fully comply with FFL's festival validation policy but appear to be legitimate events. We will leave you to decide whether you should submit to this event or not. General rules
GENERAL RULES
All films should have a maximum duration of 3 minutes excluding credits.
All films should have been produced after January 1st, 2017
Films that have dialogue must include English dialogue or English subtitles
All films must be independently produced and financed. No films produced by major film studios or TV networks will be accepted.
The Festival committee reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any project.
After a film has received official selection, the Festival is permitted to use excerpts from the film, up to a maximum of 30 seconds, nationally and internationally for promotional purposes
For promotion of the entire selection and of each selected film, the Festival website is allowed to use any photo or digital film clip (less than 30 seconds duration)
The festival strongly encourages filmmakers to submit their film only after it is fully finished and will judge each submission as a completed work.
Short Films that are publicly available online prior to the Festival may be considered for exhibition during the Festival, but will be ineligible for Jury Awards.
The Festival reserves the right in its sole discretion to reject or disqualify any ineligible entries, without issuing a refund.
In the event of a film being withdrawn from the festival, 180 Berlin FilmFest will not be liable to refund any submission fee or to return any materials submitted.
All submissions are screened and evaluated by the Festival Selection Committee. Their decisions are final and confidential.
Applicants are solely responsible for obtaining all of the necessary rights and permissions for third-party materials included in the film, including but not limited to music, trademarks, logos, copyrights, and other intellectual property rights. The 180 Berlin FilmFest expressly disclaims all liability or responsibility for any violations of the foregoing.
BY SUBMITTING THE MATERIAL, THE APPLICANT HEREBY AGREES TO INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS, AND DEFEND THE FESTIVAL, ITS EMPLOYEES, DIRECTORS, REPRESENTATIVES, AND AFFILIATES FROM ANY LIABILITY, CLAIMS, AND DAMAGES IN CONNECTION WITH THE SUBMISSION AND FROM ANY FEES AND EXPENSES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO REASONABLE ATTORNEYS’ FEES, THAT ANY OF THEM MAY INCUR IN CONNECTION THEREWITH.
