It's a great festival, I liked it very much. Christian Pouligo does a really great job: selection of films is outstanding, the atmosphere of the festival is welcome and friendly and festival itself is very well organised. I had a great time. Sincerely, Evguenia Men Evguenia Around 5 years ago

This represents one of the biggest scams ever in the cinema world. A few years ago I had a film in this event. The owner of the festival, Christian Pouligo, represents a dark influence in what represents the managment and distribution of films. I will present the contract that he wanted me to sign regarding the promotion of my film: 1.1 The author gives the editor the exclusive right to distribute the work to the public on the Internet. 2.3 The author agrees not to distribute electronic files of his work and used for personal use only 3.1.The remuneration of the author, will be 26% of the sale price ex VAT for each viewing of the work sold on the internet A statement will be made, by the editor, to the SACEM / SESAM or other institutions recovery copyright unnamed here. Be careful. Do not deal with Christian Pouligo. You will be left only with regret. Daniel Nicolae Around 5 years ago

For information these are the terms of a VOD contract proposed to artists who so request and not mandatory ; the contract has nothing to do with the festival that has its own rules christian Around 5 years ago

This festival is an abomination. The website is well done, it’s taking place during the prestigious Cannes film festival (with no link at all, of course) but the screening conditions are awful, with a lot of sound distortion and freeze frame. What is the sense to ask you for an HD copy of your work if it’s to show it in such a poor resolution ? Seeing your work like this is not a reward but a nightmare, the guy in charge of the festival is an amateur and a saboteur with absolutely no sense of respect for the director and the movies selected. Directors have travelled from all over the world (Japan, China, Germany, Scotland, Portugal, Australia, Belgium…) and are all the more disappointed. I ‘m very surprised to see how this festival could be supported by the city hall of Cannes and I’ll ask them for further explanation about how they can associate their image with this shame. Dear friends and critics. We recognize that this year the projection room of the Hotel Eden was not operational at the quality of sound and image. We searched with the staff of the hotel that was wrong and finally we realize that a cable connectivity was a flaw ... We are suing the hotel who is responsible for this, the AVIFF renting an auditorium in working order and the hotel to maintain it. We apologized repeatedly during sessions and looked again the problem that we did finally discover that at the end of the festival.
As director of this festival I accept the blame for this criticism and once again I want to say that we are sorry that this situation has nothing to do with any disrespect for artists / authors.

In our defense I should say that:
We have always been clear in our communication and have no connection with the Cannes Film Festival which is an old lady of 67 years and has no interest ( yet ) in our actions.
We do our best to develop young but independent festival in a difficult period for the city of Cannes belongs to the entire Cannes Film Festival and places are expensive and rare.
We have an interest that is to promote arthouse films and develop this share of video art on the market for contemporary art during the film festival
Finally, we are not a film festival with deep pockets and are working our best to make this enjoyable for all adventure. Thus we are getting better every year.

Also regarding the personal attacks I read your comments, I do not answer that if I see the trace of low regard you pay to people in general.

This AVIFF Cannes festival is a meeting place and discoveries. Let us preserve the meaning and accept some imperfections that make it even more attractive

This festival is a big joke, and the organizer an impostor. He is selling dream on his website. However, when you arrive in Cannes you just realize you’re been screwed up: Firstly the only poor persons that attended the festival were the filmmakers coming from far away for most of them (what a deception for them!). Secondly, concerning the screening, I can do a better projection with a better sound system with my old computer: it is just splitting in the face of filmmakers. And finally, the filmmakers were supposed to sell a piece their art work at an exhibition: there were no exhibition as you can imagine! Great!! SO: if you do not want to lose your time, your money, and your mind, just forget this festival! léa Around 6 years ago

THIS IS NOT A FESTIVAL BUT A PRIMARY SCHOOL PROJECT!!! Even a person with no experience but some goodwill can do better. 1/ Concerning the projection: a/screen: consider a TV of 32' inches: same size (I'll bring magnnifying glassess next time for subtitles). Quality VHS (but several copies sent in HD: curious) b/ music: saturation when playing music, even quiet (bring your ball earplug do not become deaf) c/ Surprise guest: google chrome opening several times in the screen while showing movies and no excuse from staff (true story) 2/ Organization: a/ no communication, leading logically to an empty room (max. people in the same time: 10: easy & fast to count) b/ guy in charge arrived late several times with no excuse c/ "jury" left the projection room several times: that's what I call respect! d/ guy in charge did not do anything to present and link artists, even if we were only few people Conclusion: don't waste your time. Thanks God, it was a sunny week and we enjoyed the beach Francesco Around 6 years ago

***DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS FESTIVAL !!*** Their website is well presented but the event is really not professionnal at all !! The quality of the projection is really bad, and the screening room is allways empty !!! On site, nothing is organized, artists are not connected to each others and completely leaved by themselves.... The guy that organizes the event do not know anything about art or cinema - and above all, he does not consider artists at all. charline Around 6 years ago
