Mission / description Facets’ Chicago International Children’s Film Festival is the largest annual festival of films for children ages 2-18 in the world, programming 250 films from 40 countries and showcasing the best in culturally diverse, value affirming new cinema for children. With audiences of 20,000 including over 100 filmmakers who lead post-screening Q&A’s and hands-on filmmaking workshops, the Festival is also Academy-qualifying.

The mission of the Chicago International Children's Film Festival is to set an internationally recognized standard of excellence in film and television production for children. It is further our mission to support the work of talented and dedicated filmmakers by showcasing films of the highest quality, providing a professional forum through which their work may gain increased distribution and access to wider audiences. The Festival is also committed to engaging young viewers with positive media images and to using media as a tool to stimulate critical thinking through discussion and hands-on workshops.

The Festival screens animated and live action, feature and short films for children & youth ages 2-18, with over 2 dozen prizes awarded from Adult, Children, and Youth Juries, as well as a number of special prizes. The Festival operates a small but dynamic market for programmers and distributors and is a major source of programming for other children’s film events worldwide.
