Mission / description Submissions are now open for the 2017 edition of the Cork Film Festival, which will take place over 10 days, from 10th – 19th November. The Festival will be hosted in a variety of City Centre locations, ensuring that Festival-goers not only enjoy the best in cultural cinema, but are also exposed to all that this vibrant yet historic city has to offer.
The Festival welcomes all forms of film production – animation, experimental, student work, documentary, etc
One of Ireland’s oldest film festivals, the Cork Film Festival plays a rich selection of the best of contemporary, global cinema, and is always on the look out for interesting new voices.
The Cork Film Festival is accredited by the following Awards Academies:
• Academy Awards®: winners of the Grand Prix Irish Short and the winner of the Grand Prix International Short categories, qualify for the long list of the Academy Awards® for the Animated Short Film/Live Action Short Film category.
• BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television): filmmakers whose British shorts are selected for competition in the Festival’s Grand Prix Internationals short competition can enter their films for BAFTA consideration
• European Academy Awards: Festival juries submit a short film nomination to the European Film Academy Awards.
