FLiCKERFEST, Australia's premier international short film festival, will be held at the Bondi Pavilion on Sydney's famous Bondi Beach from 12th - 21st January 2018. The Festival in 2018 will celebrate 27 years of screening the best short films from Australia and around the world in competitions and special showcases.

Flickerfest is an Academy® Accredited and BAFTA-recognised festival.

Following the Festival in Sydney, a selection of films will go on tour to capital cities and regional centres around Australia.

General rules ELIGIBILITY
By submitting your film to Flickerfest you are agreeing to fulfill the following criteria.

To be eligible for Flickerfest film competitions all shorts must be no more than 35 minutes in length.

All selected films must be available for screening on H264 or APPLE PRORES FILE

All productions screened at Flickerfest must have been completed within 2 years of the entry closing date and must be in English or have English subtitles.

DUE TO THE COMPETITIVE NATURE OF FLiCKERFEST, WE PREFER AUSTRALIAN FILMS THAT ARE AUSTRALIAN PREMIERES. (with exception of other Academy® qualifying Australian festivals)

AUSTRALIAN FILMS SELECTED FOR COMPETITION SHOULD NOT HAVE SCREENED IN NSW WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF THE FESTIVAL DATES.

WE PREFER INTERNATIONAL SHORTS THAT ARE AN AUSTRALIAN PREMIERE.

FOR ALL COMPETITIONS WE PREFER FILMS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN BROADCAST IN AUSTRALIA OR MADE AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET.

THE PRODUCER WARRANTS THAT THEY HAVE OBTAINED ALL THE NECESSARY PERMISSIONS TO ENTER THIS FILM AND THAT THE FILM DOES NOT INFRINGE THE RIGHTS INCLUDING COPYRIGHT OF ANY THIRD PARTY.

Films submitted for the Schools/Youth Competitions do not have to adhere to the premiere guidelines.

*Following the festival held in Bondi, Sydney, Flickerfest tours a selection of films across Australia. Each film included in the touring programme is paid a royalty depending on programme and screenings. If selected, filmmakers are asked to agree for their film to be included in the national tour, and is subject to final agreement between the festival & filmmaker.
