Mission / description International Festival of Film and Urbanism “86” is a vibrant cultural event held in a small but very special town, Slavutych. It is the youngest city of Ukraine built in 1986-1988, after the Chernobyl disaster, to accommodate the workers of the nuclear plant. The unique history and landscape of this town as well as its proximity to Chernobyl are deeply intertwined with the festival’s main focus: urbanism, environment, and energetics. The festival explores these topics with an interdisciplinary approach through documentary films, workshops, discussions and art projects. Intended to promote cultural decentralization, IFFU “86” combines local focus and international scope. full text less text
