Mission / description The Landshut Short Film Festival is a popular short film festival in southern Germany close to Munich. Short films of all genres to a maximum of 30 minutes of playing time can be submitted.
In various competition categories, there are 13 awards with prize money amounting to a total

Open to animated short films from anywhere in the world. The Animation Award is a special award for an outstanding international animation short film. The trophy money is 1000 Euro and is awarded by a jury. Submitted films must not be longer than 30 minutes.

Open to genre short films from anywhere in the world. The Deadline_Award is a special award for an outstanding international Horror, Mystery, Fantasy, Science Fiction or Thriller Short Film. The trophy money is 1000 Euro and is awarded by a jury. In this category there is also an audience award; the trophy money is 300 Euro. Submitted films must not be longer than 30 minutes.
Europe in 19 minutes
Open for short films made in Europe. In this category two prizes will be awarded. Best Short Film: awarded by a jury; the trophy money is 1000 Euro. Audience Award: the trophy money is 1000 Euro. Submitted films must not be longer than 19 minutes.
Short Documentary Competition
Open for short documentary films made in Europe. The trophy money is 1000 Euro and is awarded by a jury. Submitted films must not be longer than 30 minutes.
Short Film Competition
Open for short films made in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In this category, three prizes will be awarded. BMW Grand Prix: awarded by a jury; the trophy money is 5000 Euro. Audience Award: the trophy money is 2000 Euro. Best Comedy: awarded by a jury; the trophy money is 500 Euro. Submitted films must not be longer than 30 minutes.
Shorts for Kids Competition
Open for short films for children made in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. The trophy money is 500 Euro and is awarded by the audience. Submitted films must not be longer than 30 minutes.

1. The Short Film Competition is open for short films from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In this category three prizes will be awarded.

BMW Grand Prix: awarded by a jury; the trophy money is 5000 Euro
Audience Award: the trophy money is 2000 Euro
Best Comedy: awarded by a jury; the trophy money is 500 Euro

Submitted films must not be longer than 30 minutes.

2. The Deadline_Award is open to genre short films from anywhere in the world. It is a special award for an outstanding international Horror, Mystery, Fantasy, Science Fiction or Thriller Short Film.

The trophy money is 1000 Euro and is awarded by a jury.

5. The Shorts for Kids Competition is open for short films for children made in Germany, Austria or Switzerland.

The trophy money is 500 Euro and is awarded by the audience.

Submitted films must not be longer than 30 minutes.

6. The Europe in 19 minutes Competition is open for short films made in Europe. In this category two prizes will be awarded.

Best Short Film: awarded by a jury; the trophy money is 1000 Euro
Audience Award: the trophy money is 1000 Euro

Submitted films must not be longer than 19 minutes.

7. The Innovation Award will be presented for all programs of the festival. It is a jury prize and elected by all jury members of the festival. The Innovation Award is dedicated for a particularly exceptional, innovative film. The trophy money is 2000 Euro.

8. Submission deadline is the 10th of November 2017.

9. If it is not possible for you to upload the film file to FFL you can send also a secure Vimeo link or a file by e-mail of the submitted film to:

10. Preview DVDs will not be returned.

11. The screening formats at the Festival are: DCP, H264, Apple ProRes, BluRay (region free)

12. If the original version of the film is not in English or German language, the film has to be subtitled in English or German language.

13. Risk and cost of sending preview copy and screening copy to the festival have to be accepted by the sender. Screening copies sent in from other festivals have to be arranged by the sender. Cost for sending back screening copy to sender will be accepted by Dynamo Kurzfilm e.V.

14. All parcels from non-EU member states must be clearly marked with a customs declaration form stating the following: ”For cultural purposes only. No commercial value.” Parcels from non-EU member states must also be accompanied by an invoice stating a value of no more than 10 Euro. We will not accept preview and screening copies which do not have paid the full postage.

15. Film copies are insured for their print value for the duration of the Festival. Compensation claims must be made within 10 days after the film has been returned. Court jurisdiction is in Landshut.

16. In submitting your film or video you guarantee that you have all the relevant permissions, licenses and releases for your film or video to be screened in a public exhibition. You must have in your possession the permissions, licenses and releases for the submitted film or video's music, script, actors etc.

17. The organizer has the right to show clips of the submitted and selected film up to one minute in length to the websites of the festival and on TV as part of the festival coverage if this is not expressly revoked by the submitter.

18. If more films are submitted than can be shown in the festival programs, a preliminary jury will decide on the admission to the various programs. The decision of the preliminary jury is final. Entrants whose films are chosen for screening at the festival will be notified by January 2018.

19. A screening fee will not be paid.

20. Festival passes and travel allowance:

Up to three festival passes are issued for each accepted film. The pass entitles to free admission to all events of the 18th Landshut Short Film Festival. Only for the award ceremony, a service charge of 10 Euro for buffet and drinks will be charged at the box office.


Travel allowance per accepted film:

Germany: up to 100 km of travel distance 40 Euro; more than 100 km of travel distance 80 Euro.
The travel allowance for german residents will be transferred after the festival to the registered person.

From abroad: 120 Euro; the travel allowance will be transferred after the festival to the registered person.

Unfortunately, a travel allowance for participants from the district of Landshut can not be granted.

We can not assume any costs for accommodation.

21. With the submission the sender agrees that his or her specifications will be stored and used in purpose of the Festival and accept the regulations of the Festival.

22. By submitting a film the submitter accepts all entry conditions of the Landshut Short Film Festival.
