Mission / description Great stories shape who we are, introduce us to people we’ve never met and take us places we never knew existed. From animation to documentary, the world of short film invites you to live multiple lives and celebrate variety. Discover storytelling at its finest.

For the past fourteen years, Two Short Nights Film Festival has been celebrating and promoting short films and the people who make them. The festival is proud to nurture new and emerging talent through selected screenings, workshops and our famous 48 Hour Film Challenge.

The festival takes place at Exeter Phoenix, a hub for creative activity and one of the South West’s foremost multi-artform venues. This busy building is home to Exeter’s new independent cinema, Studio 74; several gallery spaces; an auditorium for gigs, theatre and comedy; and art studios and digital training suites, all centred around a buzzing café bar. In our programme you’ll find award-winning pieces by internationally renowned artists alongside new work from local creatives and to compliment our events, Exeter Phoenix’s Creative Hub provides support, opportunities, commissions and more to a whole community of creatives.

Through the medium of short film, Two Short Nights Film Festival demonstrates what Exeter Phoenix does best. Centred around a screening programme combining must-see established work from across the globe and local talent, it aims to provide opportunity to engage in the filmmaking process and support aspiring filmmakers. An event for every film fan’s diary.
