A large proportion of my childhood has been captured on video. Watching my father hold a mysterious object to his eye inevitably left a mark on me. As I grew up in Northern Ireland, I desired not only to capture moments with a camera but also create them.

Ceremonial bonfires in Belfast and Africa, ageing Cuban guerrilla fighters and an art-collecting funeral director. Documentary has helped me understand and communicate my personal experiences.
